Cancer Moonshot Biobank
The Cancer Moonshot Program through the NIH’s National Cancer Institute (NCI) is a bold initiative intended to accelerate cancer research, foster greater collaboration, and improve the sharing of data. This is accomplished through the longitudinal collection of tumor specimens and matched blood from diverse research participants at medical institutions Nationwide.
VAI’s Pathology and Biorepository Core (PBC) serves as the Biospecimen Core Resource for the Moonshot program. In this role the PBC assembles and distributes collection kits for sample procurement. Upon receipt, each case is qualified through pathologic and molecular verification prior to downstream analysis. De-identified biospecimens, their derivatives, and their associated data will soon be available for researchers in an online catalog.
